For your next business meeting or private event on the North Shore, consider The House of the Seven Gables in the Salem, Massachusetts. The Gables is walking distance of the MBTA, Salem Ferry Landing, hotels and restaurants to meet every budget.

The Seaside Lawn is a beautiful site for a wedding, reception, or business event. It is also a memorable location for a special dinner or cocktail party. The combination of wonderful Colonial Revival gardens, 17th century historic homes, and a spectacular ocean front creates a day that you and your guests will long cherish.

  • The Seaside Lawn is available days and evenings on a seasonal basis. It can accommodate 175 guests for dinner with a dance floor; or 250 – 300 guests for cocktail or lecture style events.

  • Our modern Plumsock & Holyoke Rooms, just off our main Visitor Center Lobby, are available year round and are suitable for smaller gatherings. The space can accommodate 75 seated guests for dinner with a dance floor, or 100 guests for a cocktail or lecture style event.

  • The Hooper Hathaway House is a lovely, intimate setting for very small gatherings. The Great Room and Dining Room can accommodate 30 guests for dinner or up to 50 for a cocktail reception. The building is adjacent to our Seaside Lawn so your guests may readily access the gardens and ocean front.

  • You may also just have your wedding photographs taken here on a space available basis. Details and costs are available upon request.

    The Gables can recommend rental companies that are very familiar with our venue and will provide you with excellent service in obtaining a tent, tables, chairs and linens. Many excellent companies have catered events here and are knowledgeable about our site and policies. The preferred caterers list can supplied at your request.



  • Policies Pricing  
    We are in a lovely residential area and therefore, we must be a good neighbor! All rentals are for five hours maximum and must end by 10:00 p.m. Vendor set up and take down times are not included in this five hours.

    A deposit of 50% of your rental fee is required with the return of a signed contract to confirm the space along with a refundable security deposit of $1000.

    Support community service at The House of the Seven Gables. Beginning with its founding in 1910, The House of the Seven Gables has dedicated a portion of its revenue to support programs which serve Salem’s immigrant population and at-risk youth. Your site rental fee assures the future of this century-old mission.
