Located in the Retire Becket House (1655),the Museum Store at The House of the Seven Gables offers a wide variety of books, jewelry, clothing, toys, along with souvenirs and memorabilia. Be sure to stop by during your visit to pick up a gift for a family member, a friend, or yourself! We are open all year, and offer a unique gift shop that we hope you will remember for all of your gift purchases during all of Salem’s beautiful four seasons.
We carry the works of famed Salem author Nathaniel Hawthorne, such as The House of the Seven Gables, The Scarlet Letter, Mosses from an Old Manse, Twice-Told Tales, and volumes that include collected novels, tales and sketches. We also feature a variety of books relating to historic Salem in its many aspects, maritime, architecture, and witch trials. In addition, we offer DVDs, and CDs related to Hawthorne and Salem interests.
We are also proud to sell the book written by our very own founder Miss Caroline Emmerton titled The Chronicles of Three Old Houses. In it, she describes how she purchased The House of the Seven Gables, the condition she found it in, and the manner in which she set about having it restored to its earlier appearance. She also writes about purchasing the Hooper-Hathaway and the Retire Beckett houses, and the process of having them moved from other locations in Salem to our campus.
Our clothing selections include a range of items featuring our logo such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, caps, tote bags, and our own exclusive phrase “Teaching Fine Witches Since 1692.”
Our store features a large assortment of mugs, post cards, shot glasses, candles, sun catchers, soaps, magnets, candies, jellies, teas, toys and games, writing accessories, jewelry, and Christmas ornaments.
The toy and book section offers old-fashioned fun for children of all ages.
