Join historian Carlo DeVito for an illustrated lecture about Wreck of the Whale Ship Essex, the memoir that inspired the famed Moby Dick. Learn about Owen Chase, the first mate on the Essex and one of eight survivors, who describes his ordeal of days adrift, starvation, and whale attacks. Learn about the famed story in advance of Ron Howard’s film, In the Heart of the Sea.
About the author: This breathtaking illustrated book was created in tandem with Carlo DeVito, owner of Warren Street Books. He has written more than 15 books on a variety of subjects. He and his work have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Smithsonian Magazine and many other high-profile media outlets.
