Programs for Schools

Let our site become an extension of your classroom...

Enable your students to visualize and more fully understand early Colonial life at Salem's premier classroom---The House of the Seven Gables. Engage learners through an experience with a "living textbook" by which economics, geography, history, literature, mathematics, and science come to life. The House of the Seven Gables offers the perfect supplement to your curriculum! All Programs for Schools offer several connections to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and they are noted in each program description on this website.

Basic Schedule for All Programs for Schools

School groups are welcomed to The House of the Seven Gables in our Visitor Center upon arrival. An orientation to the specific program is led by a member of The Gables' Education Team before classes are divided into two sections. Students visit The House of the Seven Gables for a specialized tour, including a trip up the "secret staircase"! Cooperative, hands-on activities are also a valuable portion of the experience. A wrap-up discussion with Education Team teachers ends the visit.

Reserve now!

Reservations are necessary for all Programs for Schools and scheduling early is recommended for the spring and fall months. To schedule a program, please call 978-744-0991, extension 104, or e-mail to groups@7gables.org. Once a program is reserved, classroom teachers receive a valuable resource packet to use prior to the visit to The House of the Seven Gables.
