Let our site become an extension of your classroom…
Enable your students to visualize and more fully understand early colonial life at Salem’s premier classroom — The House of the Seven Gables. Engage learners through an experience with a “living textbook” by which economics, geography, history, literature, mathematics, and science come to life. The House of the Seven Gables offers the perfect supplement to your curriculum! All Programs for Schools offer several connections to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, and a range of topics covered during school visits are noted in each program description on this website.
Basic Schedule for All Programs for Schools
School groups are welcomed to The House of the Seven Gables in our Visitor Center upon arrival. An orientation to the specific program is led by a member of The Gables’ museum staff before classes are divided into smaller sections. Students visit The House of the Seven Gables for a specialized tour, including a trip up the “secret staircase.” Cooperative, hands-on activities are a valuable portion of the experience. A wrap-up discussion with museum staff instructors ends the visit.
