Employment At The Gables

Join The House of the Seven Gables as a member of the Visitor Service Team. The Gables is seeking individuals interested in Part-time & Full-time Seasonal Guide, Admissions and Retail Sales Associate positions for the busy autumn season. While we offer flexible schedules, weekend work is required. The Gables will provide detailed training, so no experience is necessary, but prior custormer service work with the public is preferred. Volunteering at The Gables

The volunteer program at The House of the Seven Gables is designed to benefit both the volunteer and the museum. Within this new program, volunteers will be able to participate in a variety of activities that contribute to the daily operation of the museum. In return, volunteers will benefit from the guidance of museum professionals as they learn new and exciting skills. In addition, they will receive many member and employee perks including discounts in the Museum Store and for special programs and free admission to the site. Volunteers will also enjoy a flexible work schedule with no weekend commitments.

Volunteers are important to non-profit institutions like ours, because volunteer time is considered by grantors as an “in kind” contribution toward matching funds, as well as further evidence of the public’s support for our programs and events. As a volunteer, you can become an integral part of our operation by getting involved in our Visitor Service department as a guide, exhibit monitor, or sales associate in the Museum Store. Opportunities to teach our educational programs for schools and assist our Administrative Departments are also available. By working side by side with our employees and managers, volunteers can help us achieve the goals of education, preservation and providing community services for families as set forth in our mission.
